ABOUT BRIAN OF B.M.T. WELLNESS:
I am a beautiful wandering soul, who’s purpose to is to support others on their earthly journey. I have walked many paths of career, relationships and habitations. What I have come to realize over the decades of my life, is that what I excel at is holding space, listening to others stories and experiences and helping them navigate it. Long before I got into the healing arts realm, I’ve had strangers come up to me on the streets, dumping their stories or struggles in my lap and leaving, with out me saying a word. I never thought this to be strange, but humbling that people trust me with their stories.
I’ve been in the healing arts world now for about 9 years. I have done a lot of personal growth/ self empowerment work as well as learning to listen to and heal my own body, that journey will continue as long as I’m alive.
I have been on an extensive 8 year Conscious Self Study of: Personal Growth, Self Empowerment, Philosophical studies, Psychology, New Age Movement and ever growing practice of Spirituality, focusing in Eastern Philosophies as well as Native American Traditions. I have also been teaching a range of personal growth and self empowerment classes and workshops for 4 years.
I am involved in the ManKind Project, which is a nonprofit training and educational organization with three decades of proven success hosting life-changing experiential personal development programs for men. I study with Landmark Worldwide, an international personal and professional growth, training and development company with a range of offerings that are innovative, effective, and immediately relevant. These organizations are integral to my life and have grown and changed me to be the person I am now.
In the realm of Bodywork, I am trained in several modalities including Myofascial Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy. CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release through the Upledger Institute. As well as energy modalities such as Polarity Therapy, Reiki, Quantum Touch and Shamanic practices as well as specially trained to work with TMJD issues of clenching, bruxism, grinding, or anyone with a history of dental issues by doing Intraoral massage. Any and all of these modalities can be used in a single session, to optimize my clients experience. My approach specifically focuses on relieving chronic tension and pain, mechanically, energetically and emotionally to help the body heal. Acknowledging that working where the pain is, is not always the solution. I co-create sessions with my clients by first honouring and listening to them throughout the session. I also offer education about what I am noticing, offering self empowerment tools via dialogue and encouraging my clients to listen to the messages their body is telling them both during and after the session. This is an effort to help them further understand their bodies and experiences, supporting them and guiding them toward a higher quality of life.
I am a 2011 graduate of the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy (AAIMT) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am certified in Myofascial Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy through AAIMT. I am a member of The Association of Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP), and licensed to practice massage in the State of Michigan, Arizona and Colorado. I have passed the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). I also have been a member of the Mankind Project since October 2014 and Landmark Worldwide since 2018.
